March Break - Junior Camp Program
(Grades 1 & 2)
Campers will explore each arts discipline (music, dance, theatre, and visual arts) through hands-on activites and exercises. These are led by Arts Program Staff, who are camp staff with significant experience in their arts specialty.
In addition to the arts programming, Junior Camp has hobbies, sports, out door play-time, story-telling, sing a-longs, and much more. Activity periods are shorter (40 min.) to help keep younger campers engaged throughout the day.
Campers in Junior Camp are divided into "cabin" groups, based on age, each with two counsellors to supervise them throughout the day.
Artistic Disciplines:
Campers will explore different styles of dance throughout the week. Campers will be exposed to basic dance technique and dance vocabulary, while working on performance and presentation skills.
Campers will explore rhythm by using various instruments and will begin to develop a musical vocabulary. Throughout the week campers will create a music piece as an ensemble.
Campers will explore both 2 & 3 dimension work. Throughout the week they will learn and develop a visual arts vocabulary, and create individual work as well as collaborative group projects.
Campers will explore creative movement, voice work, and the fundamentals of improvisation. Throughout the week they will work on creating an ensemble theatre piece.
