Leader-in-Training (LIT) Program

The LIT Program is a unique opportunity for youth who enjoy the arts and the camp atmosphere, to learn and practice the skills necessary to be an effective leader. Throughout the 7-week program LITs will learn and practice skills that focus on teamwork, responsibility, communication, problem-solving and program planning while enjoying a variety of arts activities.

 


The Program Includes:

  • experiential activities which focus on exploring the elements of design and building artistic skills

  • designing an arts based community project with the group, to be accomplished within the program

  • hands-on workshops in leadership skill building including:
    ∗communication
    ∗group discussion facilitation
    ∗team building
    ∗problem solving
    ∗program planning
    ∗public speaking

  • a 3 to 4-day overnight trip to a wilderness area

  • an opportunity to major in an area of the arts with the rest of Upper Camp

  • opportunities to take a leadership role in camp activities


Eligibility

Youth who are 14 years of age (by December 31, 2009) are eligible to participate in the camp’s Leader-In-Training (LIT) Program.
