Upper Camp (age 11 – 14)
The upper camp program allows campers to participate in a wide range of arts and traditional camp activities with their cabin group throughout the 3-week session. Grouped by age, each cabin group will experience programming in music, dance, drama, visual arts and sports. Cabins will also have "cabin time" once daily, which is less structured time for the counsellors and campers to spend together doing special activities, engaging in group discussions, playing co-operative games or working on a cabin project.
In addition to the activities attended by cabins, each camper will have the opportunity to make choices regarding his/her own camp schedule.
Majors
Campers in Upper Camp will have the opportunity to choose a “major” for each session they attend. A major is a specific arts discipline that a camper would like to concentrate on during each 3-week session. There are four major choices for each session of camp and campers may select only one per session.
Upper campers will attend their major every day for two activity periods, so they can go more in-depth into that specific art form. Arts majors are taught by specialty heads who are professionals with considerable education and/or experience in their specialty. Each major will present what they have been working on during camp at the Visitor’s Day Showcase at the end of the session.
Please note that all campers will select a first, second and third choice for majors on their camper application form. We cannot guarantee that every camper will get their first choice as there is limited space in each major. The camp encourages upper campers to apply early as this may help your chances of getting your first or second choice.
Hobbies
Everyday campers in upper camp will attend hobbies, which consist of a diverse selection of activities which campers may choose based on their interests. Hobby choices will change weekly and each will have a maximum number of participants allowed. The camp will do its best to ensure that each camper gets their first choice at least once during the summer.
Examples of hobby choices include:
