Meet Our Director
Lisa brings over 18 years of camp experience to Horizon Arts Camp as a camper, counsellor-in-training (CIT), senior counsellor, CIT Coordinator, Musical Theatre Program Director, Section Head and Camp Director. Prior to becoming the Founder/Director of Horizon Arts Camp, Lisa worked for 5 years at Camp Encore/Coda, a music camp in Maine, U.S.A. and was the Founder and Director of the AFC Arts Adventure Camp (2004-2008).
In addition to her camp experience, Lisa has worked in both film and television as an Assistant Director; has taught Musical Theatre to children and youth for 11 years; and has worked for several not-for-profit organizations including Arts for Children of Toronto where she served as the Administrative Director.
Lisa is an active volunteer with the Ontario Camps Association (OCA) and has served on the Steering Committee for the Spring Training Conference for Counsellors & Senior Staff and Annual Directors Conference; designed and facilitated workshops, and had an article published on the Diversity of Camp in the Kids’ Camps publication. In January 2008, Lisa was honoured by the OCA with a Volunteer Recognition Award for her contributions to the association.
Lisa holds a degree in Psychology along with post-graduate certificates in Arts Administration and Children's Mental Health. She is also a certified instructor in Non-violent Crisis Intervention from the CPI Institute in the U.S.A.
