2009 Leadership Staff Bios

MYANNA ADAMS, Camper Intake Coordinator/Lower Camp Section Head

Myanna is a native of Prince Edward Island, where she completed her undergraduate degree in Family Science. She has been working with children for many years and before Horizon Arts Camp spent 5 summers working as a counsellor at a local PEI camp. Most recently, she completed her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto specializing in children and families along with a collaborative program in addictions. She has experience working in various children's mental health agencies including George Hull Centre and CAMH. Myanna has also trained in dance for over 8 years and has studied piano for over a decade. She is counting down the days until the first day of camp and is looking forward to working with H.A.C. campers and their families!

AMANDA INDOVINA, Upper Camp Section Head

Amanda is entering her 4th year at the University of Toronto with a major in Psychology. She has been volunteering with Youth Assisting Youth for the past 2 years as a youth mentor and has taught conflict management to a grade 6 class through an organization called Peace by Peace. Amanda worked as a Senior Counsellor for the Arts Adventure Camp in 2007 and was promoted to Upper Camp Section Head in 2008. She has been involved in the performing arts for many years with a concentration in voice and Musical Theatre. She has also completed grade 8 piano and grade 3 harmony with the Royal Conservatory of Music. In addition to being the Upper Camp Section Head this year, Amanda is excited to be lending her teaching skills to the Lower Camp drama program this summer.

ROSIE KERR, Assistant Camp Director

Rosie is completing her Masters Degree in Education at Queen’s University focusing on the perspectives of youth in experiential education programming. She has studied and worked in Fine Arts with a concentration in photography and drawing. In the camp environment she has worked in a variety of roles; Leader in Training Co-ordinator at AFC Arts Adventure Camp; Counsellor and Waterfront Specialist at Camp Kanawana in Quebec; Hiking Trip Leader and Residential Camp Co-ordinator at Hidden Villa Summer Camp in California. Other experiences include working as a Teaching Assistant for the NSCAD University Teen Art Studio drawing classes and for the ‘Teaching Exceptional Learners’ course at Queen’s University. International experience includes collaboration in the organization of the 7th Annual Festival of the Visual Arts in Campeche Mexico. Rosie’s wealth of experience also includes 3 years working in restaurant kitchens preparing cakes, sauces, and salads and a degree in Marine Biology. She is excited to be a part of the Leadership team at H.A.C. this summer!
